14.3 Web add-in task pane (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

In Word, Excel and PowerPoint (on the web, on Mac, or on Windows via the catalog), the Home tab shows a group ADA with the button Data Classification. The pane contains, top to bottom:

  1. An optional help link (“Classification help”).
  2. A warning banner Warning: <administrator message> when a warn rule matches.
  3. The current label: “Current label: X  Sub” with “Labeled: ”, or “This document is not classified yet.”
  4. A content recommendation: “Sensitive data detected in the content; at least”{label}” is recommended.”
  5. “Choose a sensitivity label” with radio-style label cards. The recommended one carries a Recommended tag, and sub-labels appear under the chosen card.
  6. “Selected label”, followed by the chosen label’s name.
  7. When lowering:
    • “You are lowering the classification (A → B).”
    • “A justification is required (at least N character(s)) and recorded in the audit log.”
    • A Justification box.
    • Or, for a non-downgradable label: “The”{label}” label is marked as non-downgradable — this document cannot be moved to a lower classification.”
  8. Apply Label. The result is one of:
    • “Label”{label}” applied.”
    • “Could not apply label: …”
    • “Sensitive data detected in the content requires at least the”{label}” label. Selected: “{chosen}”. Choose a higher label.”
  9. Footer “Policy version: {version}”.

What Apply Label writes: - Word: label properties plus header/footer markings in every section. No watermark from the pane. - Excel: label properties plus print header/footer on every sheet. - PowerPoint: label properties plus a footer band and watermark text box on each slide. This needs PowerPointApi 1.7; older builds show a message that the panel cannot write labels.

Other pane states: - “Ada is disabled for this app” - “Ada license is not active” - “Classification is not available”
